Virtual Dyslexia Coach

We are a growing company based in San Antonio that offers our coaches flexible, work-from-home schedules and the unique opportunity to impact the lives of the children we serve.

What we do:

We are looking for committed and reliable coaches who are passionate about helping children succeed and reach their potential. We work with students of all ages (6 - adult) virtually and teach them to read and spell using the well-known Barton Reading and Spelling System. Our students typically have one or more learning differences including dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, dysgraphia, and sometimes autism. We conduct one-on-one, 50-minute sessions with each student between 2 and 5 times a week (usually 2-3 times). Students typically take 1 - 3 years to progress through the program. During these sessions, we work hard to develop a personal relationship with the student and teach the program in a way that is as fun and engaging as possible. Our ideal candidate has experience working with children in a virtual setting, knowledge about dyslexia, and a background in dyslexia instruction.

  • Conduct 1-on-1 coaching sessions with students using our reading and spelling program. Each student will meet with you a minimum of 2 times a week. While there is flexibility in that you design your own schedule, once a student's schedule is agreed to and finalized, your consistent and prompt attendance is vital to student success and parent satisfaction.

  • Maintain your calendar using our software by taking attendance for sessions and scheduling makeups for missed sessions in accordance with Fearless Readers, LLC. makeup session policies.

  • Track student progress via provided Google Drive materials and engage in regular communication with the parents of assigned students by sending weekly updates and bi-monthly progress reports using the templates provided to you.

  • Maintain high-quality tutoring services by conducting sessions with fidelity in accordance with Barton Reading and Spelling System standards.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by providing the best experience possible for both students and parents.

  • Knowledge about dyslexia and related learning differences

  • Basic technological capabilities

    • Experience with Zoom/video conferencing software

    • Experience with Google Drive/Microsoft Office Suite/calendar systems

    • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues as they arise

  • Must have a reliable laptop (Chromebooks and Ipads will not work with our programs) or desktop computer and fast internet connection

  • Must have good phonemic awareness as this is a vital skill that will be taught to students

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent time management skills - our students’ sessions are tightly scheduled and coaches must be available to start right on time and keep the sessions moving at an appropriate pace

  • Fast learner - coaches who are unfamiliar with our program will need to be able to quickly master this new material

  • Great oral and written communication skills - coaches will be responsible for communication with parents and sending regular progress update emails.

  • Reliability - Students develop strong relationships with their coaches and as such applicants should be willing to commit to this position and schedule for a minimum of one year. Students are typically with the program for 1 - 3 years.

  • Patience, creativity, and an ability to customize the program to suit the needs of unique students.

Desired Availability:

Coaches will meet with students for 50-minute sessions 2+ times a week. Coaches must have a minimum availability of 6 hours per week to take students.
